At Bendigo, a rush town of the Central Otago gold rush, a lack of documentary sources has led to writers speculating and misinterpreting the timeline of the events which caused the town to appear. Re-analysing the journal on which the narratives have been based, together with additional documentary evidence leads to new conclusions about when this town became an important centre of mining in Otago. The Californian veteran prospectors named Horatio Hartley and Christopher Reilly who brought the gold in were reticent about revealing where they had worked so they could persuade the Otago Provincial Council to pay them a reward for their find.

Dunstan House has 11 guest rooms all of which have been given the name of a person significant to Clyde or to Dunstan House itself. Mrs Jennings was the wife of the local publican and over the years she spent hours sitting up on the balcony watching people as they went about their daily business in Clyde. She was always up on the balcony and over the years became a local celebrity, known to be someone who never missed what went on in Clyde.
The suite, with its own private lounge and separate access onto the balcony is right beside where Mrs Jennings loved to sit. Mr Fountain was a man already well known for his work building with wood and he was commissioned to build a grand feature staircase for Dunstan House. Drybread Cemetery near Omakau. Trustees of Drybread Cemetery, near the small town of Omakau, contacted the project leaders in , and a formal proposal is now being developed. Drybread is a historic cemetery managed by the Drybread Cemetery Trust, with records dating back to It is believed informal burial took place before then, but over time a detailed understanding of how many people are buried in the cemetery has been lost. A public meeting will be held in Omakau to outline the proposed project to the local community and to garner feedback and opinions.
